Description: The Local History Librarian is responsible for collecting and preserving materials pertaining to the history of Tarboro and Edgecombe County to meet the research and educational needs of its patrons.  The Janie F. Allsbrook Local History Collection includes books, periodicals, microfilm, photographs and maps.

Description: This agency maintains birth and death records from 1913 to the present; marriage records from 1867 to the present.  They also preserve maps and real estate transactions from 1759 to the present.

Description:  This tool is designed to calculate the birth date when the age at death and the date of death are the only known facts.


Description:  This list contains definitions of common words and legal jargon encountered during genealogical research.


Description:  These alpha-numeric codes appear on death certificates under the cause of death.  This list contains the codes and the corresponding medical condition responsible for death.


Social Media Groups

Description:  This organization works in collaboration with the Edgecombe County Memorial Library and holds its meetings at 7:00 p.m. in the Pender Room of the library every third Thursday except in July and December.


Description:  This group maintains a collection of shared information on local history specific to the neighborhoods of Edgecombe County.
